REGULAR MEETING OF THE REPUBLICAN TRIPARTITE COMMISSION OF ARMENIA
On July 31, a regular meeting of the Republican Trilateral Commission was held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, in which took part representatives of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia, the Union of Employers of Armenia and the Government of Armenia.
From trade unions took part in the meeting the deputy chairman of the CTUA B.Kharatyan, chairman of the Republican Branch Union of Trade Union Organizations (RBU of TUO) of Commerce, Catering, Consumer Cooperatives and Entreprise Workers Sh.Mkrtchyan, chairman of the RBU of TUO of Industry Workers H.Danielyan, chairman of the BRU of TUO of Cultural Workers J.Torosyan, chairman of the Trade Union of Workers of State Institutions, Municipally Authorities and Public Services A.Asatryan.
The discussion topics were as follows: “The project of the strategy for the implementation of the gender policy of the Republic of Armenia for 2019–2023 and program of events” (presented by the leading specialist of the Department for Family, Women and Children of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia S.Bostanjyan), “Results of the study on the assessment of an adequate minimum wage in Armenia” (presented by Director of the National Institute of Labor and Social Research A.Sargsyan), and “The 10th National Conference of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia with the participation of the ILO” (reported by the Chairman of the Union of Employers G.Makaryan).
B.Kharatyan suggested making amendments to some sections of the abovementioned project. In regards to the results of a study evaluating an adequate minimum wage, Mr.Kharatyan noted the importance of two factors: the needs of the employee and his family members and the economic situation in country, which did not find a place in the mentioned analysis. These factors are directly related to the prevention of discrimination against women because women make up the vast majority in the economy of the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, A.Asatryan made proposals on the implementation by the Republican Tripartite Commission of steps to enhance the activity of trade union organizations of employees of state institutions in the regions of the republic, as well as the holding of a conference on World Day for the Decent Work - October 7.
As a result of interested and heated discussions around “The project of the strategy for the implementation of the gender policy of the Republic of Armenia for 2019–2023 and program of events”, the members of the Commission decided to submit within a week written proposals on the discussed projects.
