Eduard tumasyan

  The chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia Eduard Tumasyan was born on 18 January 1947 in Gyumri (former Leninakan) in the family of civil worker.

  On leaving the secondary school N13 named after H.Tumanyan he was admitted to the Yerevan State Medical Institute and graduated from it in 1970.
  In September 1971 he was called up for military service and served as a senior specialist of the garrison. Having finished his service in the army he worked in the military hospital in Gyumri as head of the department.
  In 1975 he was appointed as Head physician of the Children's Stomatological polyclinic in Gyumri and in October 1976 was elected a chairman of the Leninakan Minicipal Council of trade unions of health workers. In September 1978 E.Tumasyan was elected Secretary of the Republican trade union committee of health workers, and in November 1986- Chairman of the same committee. In September 1990 on Tumasyan's initiative the Congress of the Republican trade union committee of health workers was called and on this Congress the declaration was adopted and according to this declaration the branch union was renamed as the Republican Council of professional organisations of health workers of Armenia and the Constitution of the Council was approved. There has been no such precedent before on the part of the other branch union affiliated in the CTU.
  In 2003 E.Tumasyan was elected Deputy Chairman of International Confederation of Health Workers Unions. 
  In November 2007 on the 2-d Congress of the CTUA he was elected Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia.
  In November 2012 on the 3-d Congress of the CTUA Eduard Tumasuan was reelected Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia. Eduard Tumasyan is a member of the Executive Committee of Pan-European Regional Council (ITUC-PERC) and a member of the Executive Committee and Council of the General Confederation of Trade Unions(GCTU).
  E.Tumasyan is married, has two children.
