Presentation of the research "Impact of “Covid-19” Pandemic On Employment In Armenia: Challenges Of Trade Unions On The Way In Promoting Decent Work For Workers Of The Informal Economy."
On November 24, 2021 the presentation of the research "Impact of “Covid-19” Pandemic On Employment in Armenia: Challenges Of Trade Unions On The Way In Promoting Decent Work For Workers Of The Informal Economy" was held in the conference hall of the Holiday Inn. The research was carried out by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia with the support of the International Labour Organization. The author of the research is Ruben Markosyan, an independent expert.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia Eduard Tumasyan, Deputy Chairman of the CTUA Boris Kharatyan, chairmen of the branch unions of the CTUA, the staff of the CTUA, members of the CTUA Youth Council, Head of the Armenian branch of the Centre Solidarity Tatiana Solodovnik and project manager Mariam Chibukhchyan.
Online discussions were attended by Gocha Alexandria, Senior Specialist for Workers' Activities of the ILO Moscow Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia and ILO National Coordinator Nune Hovhannisyan.
The event was held by the head of the Organizational-Training Center of the CTUA Helen Manaseryan.
In his speech Ruben Markosyan, presenting the results of the research, noted that the challenges of the social partnership and the trade union movement, possibilities of formalizing of the informal employment, the spread of widely used online employment at various platforms, the main problems of decent employment in modern conditions were studied in it.
Welcoming the participants of the discussion Gocha Alexandria noted the existing problems facing the Armenian trade unions, the need to overcome them, which will contribute to the increase in the trade union membership and their strengthening.
